Portmantypo: (n) A common spelling mistake passed off as a portmanteau.

Example sentence:

After Spell Check angrily disengages, how does an author know that his manuscript is not overrun with portmantypos?

[Bugger. That’s a good question!]

Hey, maybe this explains why everything after the Oxen of the Sun episode in ‘Ulysses’ is so hard to understand!
